Atwater Village

The Spanish-style bungalows and Tudor-inspired cottage homes of the 1920s through 1940s are still around.

Welcome to Atwater Village

A hip and bustling enclave of Los Angeles

Originally named for its proximity to the Los Angeles River, Atwater Village is considered a self-sustained community. This small, buzzy town has its own post office, library, top public and private schools, and even an equestrian district, a rare find for city living. Its first residents were newly prosperous industry workers, and the neighborhood began to grow when the Pacific Electric Railway red cars came to town at the start of the twentieth century.

The Spanish-style bungalows and Tudor-inspired cottage homes of the 1920s through 1940s are still around, many with original details, as well as new construction condos and luxury high-rise buildings. Now known for its vibrant nightlife, hip lifestyle, and easy access to so many of L.A.’s industry hotspots, Atwater Village typically attracts millennials and young professionals. Offering everything from dive bars and to stylish dance clubs and trendy mixology pubs, this is where you’ll find a cosmopolitan lifestyle with a small-town feel.
